Remove Hidden Metadata from Your Photos
Free & Private — No Upload, No Account
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is hidden data that every smartphone and camera automatically embeds into photos — your exact GPS coordinates, device make and model, timestamps, serial numbers, and camera settings. This tool reads all of it, shows you what's there, then removes it. Nothing is uploaded. Everything runs in your browser.
Remove GPS Location from Photos
See Hidden EXIF Data Before Deleting
Select a JPEG, PNG, WebP, or HEIC image from your device, or paste one from your clipboard. The file never leaves your browser.
The tool reads every EXIF tag embedded in the image — GPS coordinates, camera make and model, serial numbers, timestamps, and camera settings — and displays them grouped by category with a Privacy Risk Score.
The image is re-drawn through an HTML5 canvas, which removes all metadata. The downloaded file is pixel-identical to the original but contains zero EXIF data — no GPS, no device info, no timestamps.

Frequently asked questions
What is EXIF data and why should I remove it?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) data is hidden metadata embedded in photos by your camera or smartphone. It can include your exact GPS coordinates, device make and model, serial numbers, and precise timestamps. Removing it before sharing photos online protects your privacy and prevents others from tracking your location or identifying your device.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your photo is never sent to any server — it is read, processed, and all metadata removed locally on your device. You can even use it offline after the page has loaded.
What metadata does this tool remove?
The tool removes all EXIF metadata including GPS location coordinates, camera make and model, lens information, device serial numbers, timestamps (date taken, date modified), camera settings (aperture, ISO, shutter speed), and any author or copyright fields. The downloaded image contains no embedded metadata.
Does removing EXIF data affect image quality?
For JPEG images, the tool re-encodes at high quality (85%). The visual difference is imperceptible. PNG images are re-encoded losslessly with no quality loss at all. The image dimensions and pixel content remain unchanged.
What image formats are supported?
The tool supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC image formats. JPEG and PNG are the most common formats for photos with EXIF data. HEIC is used by iPhones and also embeds GPS and device metadata.
How do I know if my photo contains GPS data?
Drop or upload your photo into the tool. If GPS coordinates are found, a red warning banner will appear showing your exact latitude and longitude, with a link to view the location on a map. The Privacy Risk Score will also show High Risk.
